Welcome to our historical Church
All Saints Church was built around 1100. The South Door is the Church’s best known historical feature and has been authoritatively dated to 1050 and displays some of the oldest ironwork in England still in situ.
The Church boasts two fonts, the original dates back to 1100 and was retrieved from a local farm where it was acting as a feeding trough and is back in use. The second, a replacement, was installed in 1815 and stands in the West Porch.
The West Tower was constructed between 1400 and 1450 and houses the clock and a ring of 10 bells: the oldest (the 9th) dating back to 1605.
The organ is a Father Willis of 1896 which replaced one installed in the nave by the Rev. Thomas Crick. Father Willis organs, known today as Henry Willis & Sons Ltd, is one of the oldest and most famous organ building companies active in the world today, having been in continuous operation since 1845.

Weekday Services
- Wednesday 9.30am Midweek Holy Communion ~ St. George’s Chapel, followed by a chat over a cuppa
- Morning Prayer 9.30am and Evening Prayer 5.00pm, Tuesday to Friday, over Zoom — all are welcome to join. The current Zoom login details are in the latest weekly notices.
General information
All Saints Staplehurst is an inclusive church — everyone is welcomed.
The Church is used for Weddings, Baptisms, Funerals and Blessings, in addition to Church and Friends events. We have a well equipped kitchen for serving food and drinks.
Groups & activities
Parochial Church Council — are the trustees that manage the Church finances and building and are always looking for new members to join. Please contact the Rector.
Choir — we have an active choir who practice Friday evenings in school term time and sings at most morning and evening Sunday services, for weddings and special services.
Children’s Choir — Our children’s community choir, ‘Sing’, in association with Staplehurst Music Centre, meets in St. George’s chapel, and currently operates on a pop-up basis to perform on special occasions. Enquiries welcome, contact Jacqui Veitch on 07796 487538.
Band — 1st Sunday of each month during the Parish Communion service.
Bell Ringing — our tower houses 10 bells ranging from the smallest at 265kg, up to the largest at 994kg. We have one of the largest ringing bands in Kent and welcome new learners. Bell ringing is open to all, the only restriction being that you will need to be tall enough to ring. Ringing is a very sociable and ancient art which our ringers are keen to preserve for future generations. Come along and join us at a Tuesday evening practice from 7.30pm.
Children’s Crafts — children’s arts and crafts table usually on 1st Sunday of the month at the back of Church during the Service. Any questions or if you would like to help with crafts, please speak to Jacqui on 07796 487538.
Flower Arranging — an active group who keep our church looking beautiful.
Friends of All Saints — a charity set up to fundraise through events and subscriptions for the upkeep and maintenance of the building fabric. The charity has very simple objectives: to maintain, repair, restore, preserve, improve, beautify and reconstruct for the benefit of the public, the fabric of the Church, it’s monuments, fixtures, fittings, furniture, stained glass, ornaments and other chattels, and its churchyard.
Church Cleaning — All members of the Church volunteer to keep Church looking “spick and span” through brushing, hoovering and dusting.
All Age Workshops — everyone welcome to join in with activities including arts & crafts, music, making and baking, colouring and designing. Usually takes place twice a year — at Easter and Advent, 9.30am – Midday.
Grief Café Online — There will be 2 free sessions each month, one in the daytime and one in the evening. Each Grief Café will last an hour and be held on zoom. Please email Becca, becca@beworthy.co.uk for the link. It is a space for you to be supported and support other people in grief.
